W. L. Alden
Mark Twain once called William L. Alden "The funniest man on earth."
Mister Ron has a hard time reading these stories without breaking up laughing.
Alden had a long career as a writer and editorialist for the New York Times (his column was called "Mr. Alden's Views"), and
lived in England for a time while he was also serving as the U. S. Consul-General in Rome, Italy (confusing, yes).
He died in Buffalo, New York in 1908, and is almost totally forgotten today.
We will do our best to revive the standing of this extremely funny writer.
